In July we embarked STAYCATION 2.0
Ogden Valley
Prepare for picture overload...
James looked like this 80% of the time. Happy as a clam. Dirty as a pig.
Our kids absolute FAVORITE summertime activity...sleeping in G & G's motor home.
Oh, the adventure of it all!!
campfires.tinfoil dinners. Jiffy pop & s'mores. jet skiing @ pineview . hiking. biking.
scary stories. FUN!
It's tough to make Tom look like a giant...no offense babe. But, the motor home shower seems to do the trick, every time. Endless laughs.
Tom and Jack raced in their first official mountain bike race at Snowbasin. Tom had a rough start and ended up on a kind strangers bike. They had a great time and did something new for both of them! We also found some great restaurants we've never been to before, but will most definitely revisit.
We visited the city park in Eden 2x's in 3 days. It has the perfect playground for all ages. If you need a good Sunday drive, I'm tellin' ya....try Eden.
Last but certainly not least, we made a spontaneous decision one afternoon to visit the Huntsville Monastery.
We are so very glad we did! Well, at least Tom and I were glad. Our kids didn't know quite what to think. We watched a film about life within the monastery and not only was it informative, it was down right hilarious! The monk narrating the film had some great one liners that seemed so out of "character" for what we thought it would be like. It was a crack up! We loved it.
The picture above is of the beautiful and simple chapel that the monks meet to pray together in 6 times a day (or more) beginning at the unbelievable hour of 3 am!
One thing he said in the film that particularly stood out to Tom and I was:
(and I'm paraphrasing)
To live a good life you need
"A strong backbone, a strong breastbone & a strong funny bone."
AMEN.
Great STAYvacation. Check.
