Jack's 2nd Grade Year has been kissed by an angel...
and Mrs. Bertram be thy name.
He has had such great experiences given to him this year that may not be fully appreciated right now. So.... I thought we should IMMORTALIZE them here and now.
(....and before this baby comes to distract me further. What? If you thought my posts were few and far between now, ....well. ;)
Mrs. Bertram has 29 (count 'em) 7/8 year olds this year to educate, enrich, and sometimes just get through the day. She is a huge fan of grant writing for the things she wants to see happen and we are huge fans of hers for it.
To name a few...
•Bus trips to a local retirement home where the kids read to and perform for the "grandparents."
•African drum lessons and storytelling by Zinse of Ghana, West Africa
•Help from the Utah Festival Opera to write, direct, and star in their own class opera.
Her energy and creativity is quite boundless and we are grateful to be on the receiving end.
And just for good measure, let's throw some pics of the ever lovable, 2nd Grade staple, "Flat Stanley" in front of the White House and Jack's term report on Tiger Sharks just to show he's got some balance.

My conversation just now with my 8 year old
Mom: "Hey Jack, we're going to Grandma's in a little bit to play with your cousins (girls), so you can play for 30 more minutes out here. K?"
Jack: "Hey, umm Mom? Could I use some cologne?....I've been out here bailin' on my skateboard and I'm all sweaty....and I want my pits to smell good for the ladies."
Mom: "Alrighty then."
I AM NOT READY FOR THESE "Formative" YEARS!
Plus, "my pits?" are you kidding me? Gross. Did I mention this was for girl....cousins?
In other news.....
Today is our 11th Wedding Anniversary.
My, My how time flies.
Two kids, one on the way, a mortgage and oh, so much more.
We are livin' and lovin' the dream.
I love you T.

Just reread my last post and actually pushed "spell check" this time. I, in fact, do know how to spell Phoenix...just not endulgent (indulgent.) My bad. But hey, it made me post again only two days apart.....well in front of my deadline. :) Things are really looking up for me!
I LOVE March!
It makes me think of all good things.
Why does today look just like several days we had in January ...?... and yet I want to go for a walk with a light scarf and call it "blustery," not drab. It feels like Winnie-The-Pooh & Co. are just around the corner wandering through The Hundred Acre Woods making mischief.
Again, it's charming. Not depressing.
All because of a flip of the calendar.
And 15 degrees or so.
COME ON SPRING!!!!
