Tri-Wizard Tournament...
with a twist.

Mrs. Voss' Piano Recital October 2011

Jackson and Aspen recently played in their 1st piano recital.  To say their teacher went above and beyond would be a HUGE understatement!!!  This amazing woman, Mrs. Voss, transformed a local piano store into a scene straight out of Harry Potter.  They all played songs from the HP movies or with a Halloween theme.
It was truly UNBELIEVABLE.
Since this was a FIRST (& Jack had only been playing for 3 weeks) I was really nervous for them.  I thought, for sure, Aspen wouldn't make it up there.  She wouldn't leave my side... so I found myself sitting on the front row with all the students (crouching down so parents could see over me) waiting for an embarrassing scene to ensue.  Somewhere along the lines of "I'm not going up there...good luck making me!"  As Mrs. Voss pulled the first students name (not Aspens or Jacks) out of her self created "Goblet of Fire," I was relieved that she could see at least one person do it and live before she completed freaked out.  She was holding my arm so tight, her knuckles were white and I thought that she (or I) might pass out.  Two names. Three names.  Then, "Aspen Telford."  She stood up, didn't look at me, said her name in the mic, even read the trivia question they'd each been given....and played her song perfectly.  She KILLS me.   Jack was amazing as well.  He didn't act nervous at all, which I'm sure he was. He just walked right up and played his "Haunted Staircase" like he'd been playing for.....well, longer than 3 weeks!  ;)  I gotta admit, it was a PROUD PARENT moment for both of us.  It is always so amazing for me to watch our kids do the "hard" things in their lives. No matter the level.

So fun to watch neigborhood friends perform as well!

Yep.
She had robes. wands. ties. glasses. An entire Hogsmeade candy store.
The whole....nine....yards.
Thanks for a magical night, Mrs. Voss.
You are a wonder!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Our ever faithful Lion costume made it's 3rd Telford appearance this Halloween.
It is the only costume that all three of our kids have worn..... mostly because they don't have a choice.
 I LOVE IT!
This year was extra fun because Aspen (& Eliza, her friend) dressed as Dorothy, so we sorta had a theme going.  I couldn't talk Jack into being the tin man or Tom into the scarecrow.....but I did find a SWEET Glinda get-up (thanks Trish!) and coaxed my friend, Emily, into playing the part of the Wicked Witch, so all was not lost.  Until.... about 5 minutes after we left our house and the Dorothy's ditched us.  Then we pretty much looked like ridiculously over zealous mothers with an adorable football player (Griff) and a miniature Tina Turner...I mean, Lion.
(See MY FAVORITE picture of James from the back to understand the Tina reference.  :)
Jack ditched us long before the pic to get a jump start on the loot.  He was the Grim Reaper.
Very scary...very 10 year old boy.

Could you just eat him?!?  I mean, seriously.
