Happy Easter 2011
My brother-in-law was telling me about a boy in his church class on Sunday. They were discussing the different symbols of Easter and the boy said so sincerely.....
"Well, I know the egg has some significance and we always need to wear light colored clothes."
So close. so so close. :)
I do wonder at times if our children are getting the "significance" of the celebration... or if they understand how truly grateful their mother is for this season to celebrate and what it means for the world.
Maybe because as we try to explain our truest feelings to them about Easter, my eyes can't help but wander to the fresh grass stain on Jack's new linen pants.
And I wonder why they have a hard time focusing?

18 Grandkids and counting...(2 missing from this pic.)
I had a very "back in my day" experience with this Easter Egg Hunt. As Aspen was flitting around my parents back yard looking for eggs....she picked up a hard boiled one, looked at it and put it back...thinking no one saw her. We were dying!! She had clearly deducted very quickly that it contained no candy and was therefore, not worth her time or basket space.
Well I NEVER!!
(Well...I probably would have, but in my day, all we had to "hunt" were the hard boiled kind. :)

open.open.open.open.open.
You can do!

I feel like our tulips are the munchkins hiding in the foliage of Munchkinland waiting for the Wicked Witch to strike them dead at any moment. If only I had the painfully high pitched voice of Glinda to help them feel safe! "Come out. Come out! Wherever you are!!!"

We are oh SO READY for
SPRING!

NEWPORT COAST-CALIFORNIA
SPRING BREAK 2011
This luggage dolly became our favorite "ride" several times a day. Way better than Disneyland...at least that's what Tom and I were hoping they'd believe.
They bought it.

Tablerock Beach
Same beach pic 9+ years apart. James 2011. Jackson 2002. Kinda fun.

We met up with some great friends and attempted a beach day. The kids had a ball! It was the sort of beach day that only "visitors" might endure....66ish.?

James first taste of pure sunlight! Ok...his left foots first taste. He did rather well with his first sand encounter too. Gritty, yet satisfying!
Back at the pool with Jane, Ruby, Aspen, Liza & Jack. Thanks for the great day Hladeks! It made our trip! (Actually watching Jack interact with the ladies was downright PRICELESS!)
Great Memories. Check.

A picture is worth how many words?
I don't know, but who cares... I could do this
ALL DAY!
I'm 11 months old today.
